Both rigs work with Blender 2.49. PLEASE NOTE – they haven’t been tested in 2.5 – and I’m not planning on it either.
Consider them legacy rigs

Note that python scripts need to be enabled when you link this file over.  Go into the buttons window, enable script links from the logic settings.
